Blizzos KP61 rally car

hey guys, blake aka blizzo here. New to the forum but usually lurk on oldschool.co.nz. This build has been going on for over a year now but thought i would throw the history up here
So a dream of mine over the last few years of lurking in the corner of my father in laws rally career has finally come true. I recently took ownership of am 83 Kp rally car.
I have been wanting to get on the gravel for a while, and have had a go co driving for my father in law in his escort. Now its time to get into the hot seat myself. He gave me a bit of cash towards this starlet under the priviso that he sits in the co pilot seat and teaches me with the occasional drive, pretty good deal IMO.

So don't get excited, this thing isnt that flash, hasn't been used in about 6 years and needs a fair bit of TLC, but thats all good fun anyway.
good bits -
- "worked" 4k, still unsure how worked, has 45mm sidedraught but only a very mild, still waiting to hear from the bloke who built it for more info. (have since found out its pretty average)
- rego on hold
- MSNZ hologated cage, i just need to finish getting my R2 license and get authority card in my name.
- different struts with good stiff rate springs

bad bits -
-a fair (LOT) bit of bog hidden rust
- a bit gutless ATM, gunna investigate a few things (buggered mech fuel pump) and poss pull head off
- a ghey colour scheme and average paint
- VERY f@%kED DOORS (bottoms are very rusty)

photos!

I have since repaired the whole lower a panel for rust, pulled the vinyl off, painted te grill black again and pulled the front struts apart for new shocks etc. have a sprint to do on the last weekend of the month. Plan for it is to fix a little bit, compete, fix a little bit compete, so that it doesnt become a shed ornament. Will get a respray this summer ready for danniverke car clubs gravel sprint series at the start of next year.

Cheers for looking

Hey guys, I picked this up back in 2011 from a guy that could never get it running right which turned out to be a boost cut defender on the map sensor line (ha it's map sensor only), after sitting in a mates yard for a while I decided to register it but had it hoon impounded 2 days later (damn you 1j skids).

It's a grande Cressida that has had a Jzx front cut put in it including the digital dash, factory intercooler etc, it makes for an awesome daily driver and a good sleeper.

Not sure on plans at this stage.

Adsy's Ke70 4Agze Turbo Build, From Rust To Reverse Entry

Hey guys
Been lurking this forum as a visitor for a while now collecting various info and answers, and figured id make an account and share my KE70 build and some of the progress ive made so far. Along the way i will be sharing some of the methods i use while also hopefully learning much in return! I'm 24 now and Ive had a lot of cars from V8s and 6s to 4x4s but never a corolla/drifter. This is my first propper race intended build/project and what i hope to be an awesome learning experience, but is equally likely to be a nightmare for my bank account and what my mate describes as a world of hurt... Regardless, let the fun begin!!

I bought the car around christmas time off a bloke who turned out to be a mate of a mate. It had most of the current gear in it already. It runs a 4k with twin delorto 40s, and a 5 speed. Also coilover sleeves, Corona brakes, extended Lca's, Roll centre adjusters,15x9-0 rims, welded diff, bride seat and some other bits and pieces.
This is how it looked when i picked it up but a bit has changed since then. 20160114_174006.jpg
20160107_183104.jpg
20160114_174112.jpg

In short my goals for the car are to rebuild and turbo the 4agze motor i have, install that alongside a t50 or w series box and make it slide. Most suspension and the neccessary steering parts will be replaced, fix the bad rust, strip out the back seats, half cage and use it on the track as well as the street... well, until it gets defected, at which time it will likely retire to a life of smoking tyres on the race track.
Without a doubt ill have many questions for you guys down the track but i think ive come to the right place to share and document my build. Cheers for reading, much more progress to come!!

Steez Wagon Build

Hey Rolla heads

So I just bought this 74 wagon and pulled it out of a field in the middle of no where.
The body is very straight with very little rust (I was shocked)
The interior is an absolute mess and looks like a bomb has hit it.
Whoever bolted the brake booster to the firewall bolted it straight through the wiring loom and fried everything.
The whole car needs to be rewired.
The engine has bigger Pistons, valves, springs, lumpy cam, crank, ect ect
I found all the receipts from the build in the car.
Engine doesn't run thought :(
I think it was a bit of a backyard build.

I'm not sure at this stage of I will build the car for myself as a daily or if I'll sort everything out and then sell it on.

I'll update as progress happens

Not much to explain with this one. Hassled the owner for the last 3 years to sell this thing and never wanted to part with it then decided to sell the property. He called me first and said if i wanted it come and get it. So yeah basic run down 1965? Rt40 corona, 3 speed manual columb shift, tired smokey 2r engine, bugger all body rust and a shagged interior. :) not bad since it has been sitting for 15 years and still runs. Still undecided what to do with it :/

My 1974 Ke20

Hello, I've been lurking here for some time now and I thought to share my project with you.

It's a 1974 Ke20 which I bought about five years ago in a very bad shape. Thinking afterwards I would've saved very much time by getting a better body to start with.

394320_340463022645551_1491526451_n_zps9f3c1a02.jpg

So for the next five months I spent all my time in the garage welding that rusty little car. Got a little hurry when summer came and I had to get it back on road so I painted it matt black with spray and drove happily for the summer. At this time it had a 4K motor with some Webers. Didn't go very fast.

I'm missing pics from this time, I'll add them here if I find them.

Got tired to the lack of power and bought a GZE motor and fitted it along with megasquirt and headers and a bunch of ugly meters.

15285971711_db62d555e1_o.jpg
15288719832_0f032ed05e_o.jpg

Drove it for a few months with temporary plates and I was quite happy with it. Then the winter came and I had to do something for it and decided to add a turbo to it. I put a Holset HX35 Super to it with CXRacing manifold and Precision wastegate, EV14 850cc injectors and also changed intake manifold to a 4age RWD model.

17000632162_025639aaf5_o.jpg

A year ago I got it running and did few test drives without the butterfly valve so the SC12 was just pushing air out to atmosphere. It was quite difficult to drive due to turbo lag. Then I got tired of the poorly assembled megasquirt and bought a Haltech Sprint 500 (and I now regret not buying Sport 1000).

pieni1.jpg
pieni2.jpg

And here we are quite at the moment. I'm doing the engine harness at the moment. Trying to make it modular so it's easy to move the whole motor from car to another because this body is not so good and I'm using it just to get the motor working and tuned. Hoping to find a good Ke25, Ke70, Ta12 or something to put the motor on and make the suspension and brakes match the motor. So this Ke20 is just a test platform.

IMG_20160519_160009.jpg

I have also a Volvo 1030 axle under construction at the moment, and I'm going to change the gearbox to ZF S5D-320Z from E36 M3.

Feel free to ask anything

Isaac's 1976 Ke35 Coupe

Hey all, thought I'd share a few pictures and details of my ke35.

I bought the car last year in 2015. I traveled about 3 hours south of Sydney to pick it up! It has a 4sp manual powered by a 3k. I've been toying with the idea of building this car and swapping the engine but I'm still undecided. Torn between the idea of power and keeping things original.

This is the not long after I bought it. It was sitting on 15x6.5 inch Lenso wheels at stock height.
20151101_185724.jpg
20151102_192528_LLS.jpg

The car had no center console so I rigged up a ke70 handbrake surround and installed the gear stick surround also.
20151110_221741.jpg

I installed a head unit in the centre console and carpeted the rear parcel tray. I put two 6 1/2 inch speakers in the tray, they still look sleek and don't take away from the car.
20151112_233834.jpg
20151114_170048.jpg

At this point I decided to begin cleaning up a 5k from a ke30 that I had. The motor was filthy, I took it apart, replaced all seals, welch plugs and cleaned the valves up. Here's a few pics of the progress.

20160216_173346.jpg
20160219_165511.jpg

After taking everything apart, the internals seemed to be in decent condition after a good clean.

20160426_220742.jpg

At this point I lowered the front and rear to get it sitting a little nicer. I used 2 inch lowering blocks to raise the diff.
20160414_173430.jpg

I then welded up a full 2 inch stainless steel exhaust and bought extractors also. I put a hotdog muffler in the middle and a normal oval shaped resonator/muffler in the rear. It doesn't drone at all and has a nice tone to it. I don't wake the neighbors up late at night either.

20160503_212305.jpg
Snapchat-789727847959080568.jpg

I then put on some black chaser wheels. They are 15x5.5 inch. The offset is suited for FWD but I have wheel spacers to make up for this.

I was happy with the look of the new wheels but I decided to add chrome dress rings and white walls. I also purchased original rear venetians.

Within the next month or so I'll be putting the 5k motor in and installing a 5 speed manual (I've already picked this up). I hope you enjoyed reading some of the changes and stay tuned for any updates!

Ke25 4Age Project (Scotland)

Hi All.
Scotland based newbie here, with a KE25 imported from Australia.
The long term plan here is to do a restoration with a 4AGE running on carbs. To then be used for fun and the occasional track day.

When I bought it:
It was white, unmolested, no previous welding done and relatively rust free (for Scottish standards at least).

When it was in Australia:

When it arrived with me:

First impressions were pretty good. Got it rolled into the garage and started making a list of parts I needed.
There was some damage in shipping from Aus as you can see in the photos - Worst being the front apron and indicator lights needing some attention.
The rear boot lid also wasn't flush on the right hand side. Looked like the car had been rolled into something and the tail light section took a knock. Nothing too bad.

Front wings were gone at the bottom. I was prepared for the sills being gone too, but surprisingly good on first inspection.

Floor pans and under the car look great. Never been welded, meaning any repairs that might need done I can do properly and not spend hours undoing someone else's bodged repairs.

Long term plan:
Engine and Gearbox swap to 4AGE / T50. Also the diff.
AE86 front suspension, and brakes. Rear suspension and hub upgrade to AE86 at the same time. Maybe reset the leafs or get some lowered leafs somewhere. 13/14" wheels.
Sort out the body work. Bare metal respray, flared arches, fender mirrors etc. (Probably keep it white, but I'm tempted to go mango).
Restore the interior back to former glory.

1978 Toyota Cressida Mx32

Its probably not the done thing any more, but I still like to keep a build thread on my rides so I remember what I did to them along the journey!

So introducing my latest acquistion, a very clean 1978 MX32 Cressida.

I wanted to get something I could put the kids in the back of, that had power steering and aircon, and was generally going to be a comfortable family cruiser.

This popped up on ebay for quite a bit of cash, and was all the way over in Albany WA. But it looked immaculate and I fell in love. Spoke with the owners and they had bought it from a car yard, who had bought it from the original owner, an old bloke who had handed in his licence. They were going to let their daughter learn to drive in it, but after a few people told them they had a gem on their hands, they decided to resell it. Apparently the power (!!) was a bit too much for her too.

A bit of research (thanks Loz!) told me it was less than a grand to get the car delivered door to door from Albany to Melbourne, so a deal was done and I was the proud new owner of this gorgeous Cressy. She took about three weeks to get over to me, and involved 4 trucks and a train. Not bad value really!!

When it arrived it was even cleaner than I hoped. Extremely clean. Drives really well, though man its a boat! I guess I wanted plush, but this is not so much plush as aquatic.

Plans? Lower it. Nice wheels. A Nardi. Some kind of arrangement for sounds, though the radio is perfectly adequate. An electronic dizzy conversion, and that will do for the moment. 1UZ dreams one day maybe?!

First mod was fitting baby seat bolts in the back parcel shelf. Oh how life has changed :)

Will let the photos do the talking for now...

I am looking for the man I brought this car off to ask some questions about the work done on the engine.
I brought this car in 2010 from a man in Pimpama, QLD.
The car had no plates and looked like it does in this picture.
I am trying to find more information on what work they had done to the engine.

Any help would be great.

Cheers,

Hi, I just joined this forum and this is my first post.
I'm 20 and from the very top of Norway, my daily is a 2004 Audi A6 1.8T Quattro.
Recently I bought a 79' Ke30 online, and I'm going to pick it up next week!
The car is already insured and registered in my name.
Posted Image
Unfortunately the car seems to have lived a rough life on the salty roads of Norway and therefore there's some rust on it. The previous owner have rustwelded parts of the channels. What's left (that I know of) is a wheel well and a hole in the trunk.
The car have have rolled around 330000km (205000 miles)
I'm so excited to pick it up! I'll keep you guys updated.

Welcome!
You may have had a look at my other thread at http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/72174-best-engine-swap-for-ke30/, where I was after information on engine swaps.
I will be fixing and modding my 4k.

I have a forum post on mighty car mods forum which I will edit a link in tonight.

Now, my plans for the Rolla are:
- Fix the miss in cylinder 1
- Buy extractors and finish building the custom exhaust
- Fix the boot (its not bolted on, no inserts in the boot)
- New steelies and tyres
- New gaskets and piston rings
- Paint it (red, orange, blue or white)
- Weber carburettor

Things I have done since I bought it:
- New tachometer
- Fixed the speakers
- Full service

Photos will be up tonight!
